Today, Blimes Brixton from L.A. releases her second single "Old Habits" through her own recently-formed label Peach House. The track sees her blend the rich melodies of R&B with the low-slung swagger of modern rap to punishing effect. Mastering both disciplines, Brixton switches effortlessly between singing and spitting, leaving no doubt in our minds that she's a master of both. And then there's the production, coming from DJ Dubplates and Ninedy2, an ice cold affair with vast, expansive synths and a sparse arrangement to give Brixton's bars and vocals plenty of space to flourish. An impressively mature release so early in her career, Blimes Brixton is a name you need to pay close attention to.
