Desiigner continued his winning streak Wednesday by making his network television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Given that it's still pretty much the biggest song in the world, Desiigner hit Colbert and crew with another high-energy (and panda-free) take on "Panda." Given some of Colbert's tweets surrounding the performance, dude is clearly a massive Desiigner head:
The G.O.O.D. Music signee unleashed the track's official video Tuesday on Tidal, featuring Kanye West and one very disappointed plug. After the newness of the clip started to wear off, fans started to take issue with one creative choice from co-directors West and Paul Geusebroek: a noticeable lack of pandas.
Frequent West collaborator Mike Dean has already been tapped to lead executive production duties on Desiigner's forthcoming debut album, a partnership that should easily capitalize on the viral success of "Panda" following its inclusion on West's own The Life of Pablo. "He's a lot more of an artist than you think he is," Dean toldBillboard last week. "He's not just some Future knockoff. He talks like that—he sounds like he's got Auto-Tune on his voice in real life. He talks like Future raps, which is weird."
In short, it's panda season. Act accordingly.
