It has been a long time since Chance the Rapper released a project. Sure, Surf came out in 2015, but you have to go all the way back to Acid Rap's release on April 30, 2013 if you're only considering his solo material. Now, it's looking like the long wait might finally be nearing its end. During the launch party for SoundCloud Go back on March 31, Chance reportedly said the five words everyone has been waiting to hear: "Third mixtape coming next month." Although the moment was not captured on video, a reporter from Esquire claims that he said it during the show.

If so, this would be Chance's first solo project since Acid Rap, which catapulted him to fame three years ago. He was heavily featured on Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment's 2015 project Surf, but that wasn't a proper Chance release. This will be our first true taste of his artistic direction since then, and it's bound to be a treat. Considering he said it on March 31, it's possible that he was indicating it would come out in April. Releasing this month would make sense, as both his previous solo mixtapes also dropped during the month of April.

In the video above, you can check out his performance of "Ultralight Beam" off The Life of Pablo. The song also references his third mixtape, when Chance raps "He said let's do a good ass job with Chance three/I hear you gotta sell it to snatch the Grammy." Hopefully, those words will be coming true soon enough, and we'll have a new mixtape just in time for warm weather.
