Kendrick Lamar's surprise rollout of his new project untitled unmastered. has been nothing short of a success. With nothing but cryptic hints from Top Dawg to go by, fans were surprised with eight untitled demo tracks from the To Pimp a Butterfly recording sessions last Thursday night. Thus far, most listeners have been more than pleased about the development, with a number of tracks racking up big play numbers on Spotify. Physical copies are also reportedly on the way soon, in both CD and vinyl format. Although sales figures don't come out until later this week, it's safe to say that the surprise project has been pretty well-received.
Now, it looks like Kendrick is giving back to his most dedicated fans. He took to Twitter tonight to announce that tomorrow (Wednesday, March 9) at 4 p.m., he will be holding a lyric contest. Each track on untitled unmastered. will have a corresponding question about the lyrics, and the first Twitter user to answer it correctly will win a merch package, including a t-shirt, hat, and backpack. He claims the questions will be extra hard, so you should study up on the lyrics if you want a chance to win.
