A brief but beautiful project from the Toronto songwriter.

We called Katie McBride's song "Everybody's Here" one of our favourites last month, and today, Complex has the exclusive premiere of her new EP, 08215.

The Toronto-born multi-instrumentalist and producer received attention in 2014 for the synth-washed bedroom electro on her debut EP Castle Frank, but this time around, her sound gets the studio treatment via Austra/Arcade Fire producer Leon Taheny. Katie's vocal is subtle yet profound, and thriving on this brief but beautiful EP, from the arpeggiated opener "Saul," to the dreamy shoegaze masterpiece "Visitors."

"I wrote these songs within about a month of each other," Katie told Complex. "Each mattered more to me than anything I’d written in awhile, and they seemed to make sense together."

Though her voice rarely peaks beyond a whisper, there is power in Katie's reservation. "I find making music both scary and empowering because I'm being vulnerable," Katie explained. "These songs were from when I was first learning to open up in that way, so I can still hear myself hiding in them a bit, which I like."

Listen to 08215 below. Katie McBride is currently working on her debut full length and playing shows in Toronto, so keep an eye and an ear out for her.
