At the beginning of 2016, Melbourne producer CHIEFS blessed us with a volume of brilliantly-crafted bootlegs from his day-to-day project REALQUICK. The project's concept, in which CHIEFS gives himself only a few hours to complete a full track, is an attempt by the artist to get out of the habit of hoarding his material – and if his throwaways sound like this, we should be very thankful for any further drops.
REALQUICK Vol. 1 flips a variety of classic songs from Terror Squad's "Lean Back", to Ginuwine's "Pony" and Justin Timberlake's "Senorita". This Complex AU exclusive follows that aesthetic by transforming Biggie's "Sky's The Limit" into a certified trap banger, replete with flittering synths and a heavy bassline. While the rest of the REALQUICK project also features work with aywy and Fossa Beats, this track is a collaboration with his Grey Marle Music labelmate Dugong Jr. Check out the song for yourself above, and find the REALQUICK tape here.
