Dr. Dre’s The Pharmacy is live on Beats 1 with special guests Ice Cube and F. Gary Gray. The Countdown to Compton has been a rundown of classic West Coast-East Coast songs as the days dwindle down until Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on Aug. 14. Dre also had a big announcement to make: Compton A Soundtrack is coming next week (Aug. 7) on Apple Music and iTunes. As reported earlier this week, it was supposed to drop today, but it got pushed back.

Compton A Soundtrack is his third studio album since The Chronic: 2001 released in 1999. Dre says he was inspired to make music again during the whole filming of Straight Outta Compton. He also gave his fans the real reason why Detox never released after all these years.

"This is something you're not gonna hear many artists say, the reason that Detox didn't come out was because I didn't like it," he says. "It wasn't good. The record, it just wasn't good. I'ma keep it all the way 1000 with you, I mean seriously, I worked my ass off on it, but I didn't think I did a good enough job. I couldn't do that to my fans, I couldn't do that to myself to be honest."
