UPDATE 07/21/2015: Nicki Minaj set off a wave of reactions on Twitter earlier today after Tweeting out her disappointment that her "Anaconda" video wasn't nominated for the Video of the Year and Best Choreography categories of the MTV Video Music Awards. A few hours after her initial string of Tweets, Minaj added some more shade to the original pile and even seemed to incite a reaction from Taylor Swift in the process.

If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Oh but trust me. I'll be on that stage to collect my awards for vid of the year. Feeling Myself & Anaconda. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

QueenBey hit me about Anaconda after the IG snippet was released saying how much she loved it. She was also VERY hands on w/FeelingMyself 😊

@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..

Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this. @taylorswift13

They're not missing the point, they're just attempting to overshadow the point. Oldest trick in the book. https://t.co/Y4dt1vKk6C

@taylorswift13 I'm still confused as to why u just tweeted me when I made it abundantly clear... pic.twitter.com/A5kJyi6fQC

@NICKIMINAJ If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on.

Earlier today, the 2015 MTV Video Music Award nominees were announced and besides the obvious omission of Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé's "Feeling Myself" video, the nominees look pretty solid. However, Minaj's "Anaconda" video, which broke VEVO's record for most views within 24 hours last summer, is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Female Video, but is notably absent from Video of the Year and Best Choreography. To be fair, "Anaconda" is notoriously loved and hated among music fans but did make quite an impact last summer—whether it was Ellen Degeneres' parody video or the number of memes it inspired, or the fact that the video broke records.

Minaj took to Twitter earlier today to slam MTV and the nominations:

Hey guys @MTV thank you for my nominations. 😘😘😘 Did Feeling Myself miss the deadline or...?

— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015

If I was a different "kind" of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well. 😊😊😊

— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015

Ellen did her own anaconda video and did the #choreo lol. Remember her doing that kick 😩. Even mtv did a post on the choreo @MTV remember?

— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015

U couldn't go on social media w/o seeing ppl doing the cover art, choreo, outfits for Halloween...an impact like that & no VOTY nomination?

— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 21, 2015

When the "other" girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Like I said earlier,

The banana chopping scene in the Anaconda video alone deserves a VMA.

Does she have a point?
