Kacey Musgraves is a name you've heard even if you don't listen to country. Her presence and her music has been challenging pigeonholes since the release of her debut album with 2013's Same Trailer Different Park which among its accomplishments included the first LGBT-friendly CMA winner for Song of the Year with “Follow Your Arrow.” Kacey continued to make headlines at this year's Bonnaroo when she slammed radio for removing her single "Biscuits" from the airwaves. “They just pulled that one off the fucking radio… whatever that means. Maybe they don’t like biscuits.” The single in fact is one sweet, banjo-led anti-mean anthem that sweetly encourages people who live in glasses houses to not throw stones but instead "own your own crazy" and "mind your own biscuits."

The witty songwriting and vibrant storytelling evident in "Biscuits" permeates the whole album, weaving observances about pageant life and world peace ("Pageant Material") seamlessly into the sweeter connections of small-town life on "This Town." Other highlights include the country-loving "Dime Store Cowgirl" and adulthood-defying "Die Fun." One listen to the album leaves Kacey Musgraves emerging like chart-topping material as she searches and succeeds to find the commonality and unite us all - country fan or not. The result is an album as rich in story as it is hooks that demands to be heard.
