New wave.

After recording over 50 tracks over a 12 month period, The Sweet Chin Movie by Phaze What is the culmination of those efforts: a collection of songs that not only make the grade, but fit together to form a cohesive social narrative. London, underground, and lyrical, Phaze What burst through the scene alongside British rap crew, Piff Gang. Having supported artists such as Mac Miller, Nipsey Hustle, and Action Bronson—with strong ties to A$AP Mob and World's Fair—Piff Gang helped bridge the gap between the UK and US in ways that hadn't been done before.

Now creating a new lane and wave in the UK, Phaze What is back with his first solo offering. The majority of the production on The Sweet Chin Movie was done by Mkulu Lee, but there's also some strong beat contributions from the likes of SELVSSE, Fluency, Louis Holmes, and Tehron Porter. The title, as Phaze explains, "refers to wrestler Shawn Michael's signature move: sweet chin music. The listener can make if of it what they want; they can take it as a kick in the face... or, they can take it as a movie." Listen to the mixtape in full below. The video for "Say My Name", directed by The Rest, drops next week.
