Awful Record's weirdest member, Slug Christ, shares new track "Im The Ocean."

Last year we were introduced to Awful Records, the tight-knit, Atlanta-based independent label and media company responsible for some of the most interesting new sounds out of rap's current capital. By now, you should be more than familiar with Father, whose "Look At Wrist" was one of last year's biggest breakthroughs. But Awful's super-prolific roster goes way deeper, and Slug Christ might be the single weirdest member of the squad. His work balances doom and positivity, heaviness and lightness; he raps in a slurry, chanted drawl, and "On It (Seven Grams)," a collaboration with Stalin Majesty off Slug's self-produced IGLESIA: Olde Testament project last August, was one of the most slept-on songs of last year. Today, Slugga returns with "Im The Ocean," an eerie, aquatic self-produced freestyle, in which he's "swirling through a portal shooting water guns with Squirtle." The track is set to appear on Slugga's upcoming album, The Crucifixion of Rapper Extraordinaire Slug Christ; stream it below.
