If there was a definitive video for the post-sad Little Pain era, it's "Marceline." Inspired by Cartoon Network's Adventure Time character, Marceline, as well as The Lost Boyz's "Renee," the Brooklyn-based rapper's latest visuals incorporate two things he adores—cartoons and the hip-hop he grew up with.

"Marceline" is off his recently released L.I.T.T.L.E. mixtape, and features Pain delivering his distinct flow and ode to a special someone over the Nik Nikateen-production.

"The song was inspired by Cartoon Network's Adventure Time character, Marceline, who is the Vampire Queen. She has a rough, hardcore exterior, but she's vulnerable, emotional, and loving on the inside—which I feel like most people can relate too," Pain says. "I watch cartoons on the regular and Adventure Time is one of my favorite shows, so I wanted to somehow incorporate that into my music."

Pain continues, "Growing up I was also a huge fan of songs like Method Man's 'All I Need' and The Lost Boyz's 'Renee,' so I wanted to make a track and video that gave me the same nostalgic feeling. Hip-hop and R&B are currently in a time where it doesn't seem like there's much room for love songs or the appreciation of women in general, so it seems like perfect timing to me."
