Before being known as DJ Hanzel, DJ Rich as Fuck, or any other alias, Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Dillon Francis was simply known in a string of press releases during the moombah-crazy years of 2010-2012 as the "King of Moombahton." While discussion regarding moombahton's "king" is likely to involve many names (including Dillon's), tracks like "Masta Blasta" certainly made him into quite the iconic name in EDM. Thus, as the fires cool on his debut artist album Money Sucks, Friends Rule, word has it that his next release will be a four-track moombahton EP.
Said to be included is this collaboration with Skrillex, as well as three other unreleased tracks. While there is no word as to a date for release, as Nadastrom and DJ Sabo prepare to celebrate the genre's fifth birthday this week with the 40th Moombahton Massive event at DC's U Street Music Hall and a celebration at Brooklyn's Output, it's wonderful to see that, yet again, moombahton is absolutely not dead.
