This past weekend Prince performed three nights at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. During his last show on Sunday, the legendary artist praised the musical efforts of Janelle Monáe, who opened for him earlier that night. "Janelle Monáe's video 'Q.U.E.E.N.' is the best video of 2013," he said to the applause of his audience. "What's more," he continued, "her album is the best album released this year."
Monáe's music video "Q.U.E.E.N." featuring Erykah Badu was released in May and would go on to win "Video of the Year" at the Soul Train Awards in December. Her album, The Electric Lady, came out in September. Features on her critically acclaimed sophomore set include Solange and Miguel. Oh yeah, and Prince.
