Joie "I.E." Manda, who we recently named the third most powerful person in rap, is moving back to Los Angeles to work as President of Urban Music for Interscope Records. Barry Weiss, President & CEO of Universal Music Group's East Coast Labels, and John Janick, President & COO of Interscope Geffen A&M, made the announcement, according to Billboard.

According to a statement, Manda is going back to L.A. for personal reasons. “I am truly grateful to Barry, John and Jimmy Iovine (Chairman & CEO, Interscope Geffen A&M) for this exciting new opportunity," according to the statement. "I am now looking forward to being part of the Interscope family, a company uniquely positioned for success despite this challenging marketplace."

Manda had worked this past year as the President of Def Jam Records. During his tenure, he oversaw the signing of Trinidad James, and the release of Nas and Frank Ocean's albums, two of 2012's bigger releases.

While we don't know what's next for Def Jam, Miss Info was thrilled with the announcement.
