Multiple people have been shot in Congress Heights, a neighborhood in southeast Washington, D.C., police have confirmed.

The Washington Post reports at least four people were shot, with two in critical condition. Authorities have yet to detail their identities.

The mass shooting took place around 1:30 p.m. local time near the Congress Heights Metro station, and police arrived at the scene not long after. Fire and Emergency Medical Services department spokesman Vito Maggiolo said the four people have been transported to nearby hospitals.
