After discovering they were all dating the exact same man, three women became friends, ultimately taking the newfound camaraderie on the road.
Bekah King (18), Abi Roberts (19), and Morgan Tabor (21)âknown as @the.bam.bus on Instagram, where theyâve amassed more than 29,000 followersâunknowingly began their path to headlines-spurring friendship last December.
As detailed in a Salt Lake Tribune piece from Taylor Stevens, Roberts received texts that month âfrom two girls,â one of whom had obtained her number via a mutual friend. The texts asked whether Roberts was dating a man she was indeed dating, a man said to be 20 at the time and described in another report as a college student.
Roberts said she was shocked to find out that the two women who had texted were also dating the individual in question, as were âat leastâ six other women. Most of the women, per the Tribune, were under the impression they were in monogamous relationships.
After the big reveal, which also included an alleged instance of the man showing up at Taborâs home while she was FaceTiming with her new friend Roberts, the uniquely connected trio started noting how much they had in common. Eventually, this led to a cathartic in-person hangout and the pooling of several thousand dollars, which the women put toward an old bus.
From there, the women started routinely meeting in Boise to tweak the busâ insides so that it would be road-ready for an extended trip.Â
Last month, as detailed in a separate Cathy Free piece for the Washington Post, the women hit the road and have plans to wind up on a California beach this fall. The message behind their cross-country journey, however, isnât meant to be one of revenge but is instead intended as a celebration of sorts for a new friendship they believe will stand the test of time.
Also briefly quoted in the Post piece is the man, who has elected to remain anonymous.
âI really donât want anything to do with them anymore,â he said of the three women, noting that the best thing for him at the moment is to simply âsay nothing.â
The trio has been documenting their journey on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Recently, they shared a short video tour of the inside of their overhauled bus:
