Believe it or not, there was a time in American history in which the so-called POTUS actually knew how to speak in complete sentences. To prove it, former POTUS Bill Clinton joined Stephen Colbert on Tuesday's Late Show.

At the top of the interview, Colbert gave Clinton a chance at a "do-over" on his recent #MeToo comments, which were far less than sufficient and inspired a wave of controversy. "You know, when I saw the interview, I thought that and it looked like I was saying I didn't apologize and I had no intention to and I was mad at me," Clinton explained, referring to a widely trashed Today show clip.

Clinton added that the original comments didn't represent his "finest hour," but he's since reconsidered his remarks. "That was a very painful thing that happened 20 years ago," he said. "I apologize to my family, to Monica Lewinsky and her family, to the American people. I meant it then and I mean it now. I've had to live with the consequences every day since and I still believe this #MeToo movement is long overdue, necessary, and should be supported . . . I'd like to think that we're all getting better as we go along."

Clinton is currently on the promo circuit thanks to his new book with James Patterson, The President Is Missing. Read it or don't.
