A young couple who got engaged on stage at Parklife over the weekend has been awarded with lifetime passes to the Manchester-based festival.

25-year-old Myles Goodfellow and 23-year-old Indy Geraghty, from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, shared the memorable moment during the performance of artist and YouTube star Yung Filly. However, not everyone was in the celebratory mood and soon the pair were met with hate comments from internet trolls after the footage went viral on social media.

Following the proposal, The Night Time Economy Adviser for Greater Manchester said that Sacha Lord, Parklife’s co-founder, was furious by the reaction online and wanted to do something to cheer them up.

“Yesterday, an amazing moment happened as Parklife saw a proposal on stage from a young couple,” Lord wrote in an Instagram post. “Unfortunately, the internet reaction to two young people sharing a special moment was quite frankly vile.”
