An unidentified man from South Yorkshire, England absolutely destroyed his brand new Ferrari 430 Scuderia on Thursday. The worst part? He owned the car for only one hour before crashing it. The supercar was wrecked and hardly recognizable, but the driver managed to escape with just a few cuts and bruises.

Any Ferrari is a big purchase, but this particular model was one of 499 cars ever sold in the world. The original price of the car was $288,000, but one dealer who spoke to CNBC said the car currently goes for as little as $80,000 or as much as $220,000.

South Yorkshire police wrote on their Facebook page that when they arrived at the scene, they found firefighters “squirting water all over some kind of sporty motor some 50 or so meters down a banking.” They found the wrecked car, and eventually the driver, who wasn't in bad shape physically but looked like his pride had taken a hit. When police officials asked him what kind of car it was, he told them, “It was a Ferrari.” The driver then added, “I’ve only just got it, picked it up an hour ago.”

According to CNBC, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, with a reported top speed of 198 mph.

Now, before you go blaming this poor man for driving like a maniac or being some rich asshole, here’s a very interesting twist: the police updated their original post and added they “do not believe excess speed was a contributory factor in this collision.”
