The hit show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has taken the nation by storm. The show follows along with the lives of a group of Mormon influencers, including 30-year-old Mayci Neeley.

Neeley recently released a memoir that goes into detail about several tragic things that happened in her past. She explained that she was drugged and raped by an ex-boyfriend when she was 20 years old. Eventually, she moved on and began a relationship with someone new, only to discover that he was being unfaithful.

She confronted him about the cheating, sending him furious text messages. He began texting her back while driving, begging for forgiveness, but would tragically crash his vehicle and die.

Neeley would find out about her boyfriend’s death through social media several hours later and came to the realization that he may have been texting her when he crashed his car. This led her to go into a very negative and unhealthy mental space.

"I was severely depressed," she said during a recent video interview. "I’ve never felt like that my entire life. I kind of just felt like my life was over. I had nothing to look forward to."

While attending Brigham Young University, Neeley began partying excessively to escape from the pain. However, she would eventually come to realize that she was pregnant. The father of the baby was her boyfriend, who had been killed.

"I didn’t want to become a mom that young. I was not ready. I’ll just put it that way," she said.

When Neeley gave birth to her son, Hudson, everything changed for the better.

"Something just switched inside of me," she explained. "Those feelings you feel when you have a baby are so magical that I just couldn't imagine life without him. He is what I was put on earth to do, even though I'm so young. I was like, 'This is my purpose.' He made my life make sense again."
