Quebec’s minimum wage is now $11.25, up 50 cents an hour from $10.75. The increase works out to an extra $20 in gross salary in a 40-hour work week.

Quebec workers who earn minimum wage with tips will see their wage go up by 25 cents an hour, to $9.45.

In January, Quebec's Labour Minister Dominique Vien said that this year’s minimum wage hike will be the first of four annual wage increases, which will bring the minimum wage up to $12.45 per hour by 2020.

In October 2016, hundreds of Quebecers gathered in downtown Montreal to march in support of a $15 minimum wage. However, Vien has nixed that idea, saying it would be unrealistic to increase the minimum wage by that much in one shot.
