Barack Obama's former photographer just keeps on owning Donald Trump. Pete Souza is known for using his Instagram account to shade the Trump administration, and has gained a following of almost 2 million people who are eager for nostalgic memories of Obama's time at the White House coupled with Souza's not-so-subtle subtweets.
The photographer's latest dig at the Trump administration is in reference to the president's recent incredulous statement about the Parkland school shooting. On Monday morning, Trump met with the nation’s governors and explained that unlike Florida's law enforcement, he would've risked his life during the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
"You don’t know until you’re tested, but I think I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that, too," he said. Souza wasted little time in turning Trump's words against him with a perfect image and caption.
"Back in the day when our President could run," Souza wrote underneath a throwback photo of Obama briskly running up the stairs before giving a speech. Clearly he's poking fun at Trump's questionable health, despite the fact that his doctor gave him a clean bill of health.
This isn't the first time that Souza took a dig at Trump in the wake of Parkland shooting. Souza also posted a photo of Obama embracing former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who became a gun control activist after surviving a mass shooting. Souza first made waves by sharing a picture of Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama holding hands in May, shortly after First Lady Melania Trump went viral for swatting away her husband’s hand while on a red carpet.
During an interview with the New York Times last year, Souza was asked if he thinks Trump has noticed his effortless trolling. Souza's response was almost as ice cold as his Instagram. "I have no idea, and quite frankly, I don’t really care one way or the other." Do not mess with this dude.
