28-year-old Las Vegas woman Hend Bustami, who blamed a prior arrest on being too “pretty,” has been accused of murdering her own mother.

As reported by KLAS, Bustami called authorities on Wednesday this week to confess to killing her 61-year-old mom, Afaf Hussanen. “I think I killed my mommy,” she told the dispatcher in the call before hanging up the phone. When officers arrived at the house the two lived at, they discovered her mother with multiple stab wounds in a bedroom.

Investigators found that Bustami had left the scene shortly after making the call, and she was later spotted driving a vehicle on Interstate 15 to California. Police said she was covered in blood when they located her near Barstow, California, and she allegedly admitted once again to killing her mother. Bustami told investigators that she had gotten into an argument with her mother, and then stabbed her with shards of glass.

Prior to the alleged murder, Las Vegas police had received 12 calls for service at the mother and daughter’s home in 2022. Many of the calls were over “family disturbances,” but other incidents included a missing persons report, civil matters, and a suicide attempt.

Bustami was previously arrested in August over allegations she refused to pay a tab at a restaurant, and violated airport rules at Harry Reid International airport. At the time, she told the officers she was only under arrest because she was too “pretty.” When she was being apprehended, per the arrest report, she said “that she was going to spit on all [the officers] and that officers were perverts and were trying to rape her because they [had] never seen anyone as good looking.”
