Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton polls

Michelle Obama is officially the most admired woman in America, according to a new poll that puts the former first lady above Hillary Clinton and Melania Trump.

For fans of Obama, the news should come as no surprise. She knocked Clinton out of the top spot, after the presidential candidate held the position for a whopping 17 years.

As CNN reports, the Gallup poll asked open-ended questions about the women they admire most. Fifteen percent of Americans named Obama, who is best known for her fashion, her humanitarian efforts, and most recently her best-selling memoir Becoming.

Obama was followed by Oprah Winfrey, who came in second, Clinton, and Melania Trump. Clinton has appeared in the top ten most admired women 27 times, and was the most admired woman in the U.S. 22 times—more than any other woman since the poll began in the 1940s.

Other women in the top ten include Queen Elizabeth, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Becoming no doubt helped push Obama back into the national spotlight after a brief hiatus from the public at the beginning of Trump’s presidential term. The memoir has since sold over 3 million copies in less than a month, and she continues to sell out stadiums for the book's promotional run.

In fact, Becoming is so popular that she added 21 more cities to her book tour earlier this month. "I’m having so much fun with all of you on my #IAmBecoming tour that I decided to do one final round of events to see folks in some cities we missed!" Obama wrote on Twitter at the time.

I’m having so much fun with all of you on my #IAmBecoming tour that I decided to do one final round of events to see folks in some cities we missed! These conversations have been so meaningful for me, and I hope they’ve been meaningful for you all, too. https://t.co/tOEk59nT71 pic.twitter.com/MMQTkZ4pMY
