Nine people have been injured in a stabbing that took place in Boise, Idaho, at an apartment complex that houses resettled refugees. All of the victims have been hospitalized, and according to CNN, four sustained life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear what the motive for the attack was, but 30-year-old Timmy Earl Kinner from Los Angeles has been apprehended in connection to the stabbing, according to BuzzFeed News. Officers were called to the apartments at 8:46 p.m. on Saturday.

"After taking the suspect into custody, multiple officers responded and located nine victims both in the apartments and in the parking lot," Boise Police Chief William Bones told reporters. "Those nine victims have been transported to the local emergency room, all are receiving treatment; unfortunately some of those victims in addition are suffering from life-threatening injuries."

Of the victims, six were children, and several were confirmed to be refugees. "We haven't had anything involving this amount of victims in a single attack in Boise in the history of the department,” Bones said. “Obviously, it's something you hope never comes to your city."

Kinner has been charged with nine counts of aggravated battery and six counts of injury to a child. He lived in the apartment complex until he was evicted on Friday, according to Boise State Public Radio.

"As you can imagine, the witnesses in the apartment complex, along with the rest of our community, are reeling from this attack,” Bones said in a statement. “This incident is not a representation of our community, but a single, evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time."
