Nathaniel Tennosuke Berhow, a 16-year-old junior, succumbed to his injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on Friday. His mother was with him him when he died, according to CBS News. A motive for the mass shooting hasn't been uncovered by investigators.

Five students were shot at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California Thursday morning, according to news reports. Two of the victims have died, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, CBS News reports. The other victims are not in critical condition.Â
Police, paramedics, and firefighters rushed to the scene at the school, which is located some 40 miles north of Los Angeles.Â
After a series of conflicting reports that the suspect was dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva tweeted that the suspect is in custody and was taken to a local hospital, where he is in "grave"Â condition.
Early reports listed six victims of the shooting, though we've since learned that one of the victims is the shooter himself.Â
Police described the shooter as a 16-year-old Asian male wearing black clothing. KTLA confirmed that at least one victim was shot in the abdomen.
Mike Kuhlman, deputy superintendent for the William S. Hart Union High School District said their "hearts go out to the families of those affected by this terrible incident."
