Now that the midterm elections are upon us, people are expressing their anxiety the best way they know how: memes.

The “me voting in 2016 vs. me voting in 2018” meme went viral on Monday, a play off the meme “me at the start of 2016 vs. me at the end of 2016” from two years ago. The 2018 version of the meme juxtaposes two photos side by side, the first one reflecting optimism while going in to the 2016 election, while the second one showing how voters in 2018—in the first nationwide elections held during Donald Trump’s presidency—are ready for battle.

Sourcing imagery from everywhere from Game of Thrones to The Handmaid’s Tale, Paddington Bear, and the Philadelphia Flyers’ viral mascot, Gritty, the memes are both hilarious and sober reminder of everything we've been through in the two years since Trump took office.
