Papa John's Founder Files Another Lawsuit Against His Pizza Company

Papa John's founder, John Schnatter, is coming for the company with another lawsuit. Schnatter stepped down as chairman of the company after he was accused of using the N-word on a media training conference call.

Papa John's founder and largest shareholder, John Schnatter, just dropped another lawsuit against his company.

The new suit, which is filed against the pizza chain's board and chief executive, says Schnatter wants "to stop the irreparable harm those individuals are causing due to their repeated, and ongoing, breaches of the duties of loyalty and care they owe to the company," according to Reuters.

In May, Schnatter used the N-word during a media training conference call. Two months later, he stepped down as the Papa John's chairman. Less than a week later, he voiced regret about resigning and filed his first lawsuit against them.

"Mr. Schnatter’s attorneys are seeking to inspect Company documents because of the unexplained and heavy-handed way in which the Company has treated him since the publication of a story that falsely accused him of using a racial slur," read the statement, per HuffPost.

After the second lawsuit, Papa John's continued to deny any wrongdoing and claimed Schnatter is just trying to draw attention away from the issue.

"John Schnatter will do anything to distract attention from the harm caused by his inappropriate words," read a statement from the company. "He continues to make reckless allegations in his attempt to regain control and serve his own interests."

Although Schnatter isn't the chairman of the company anymore, he still owns 30 percent of Papa John's and continues to be a member of the board. Yes, the same board he's suing right now.
