Oasi Zegna is a natural territory at the foothills of the Italian Alps. It’s densely wooded and diverse ecosystem, not unlike New York, except the only thing you’re up against are nature’s elements. Ermenegildo Zegna paid to reforest the land as a way to give back to his community after his namesake label took off in 1910, and today it is at the heart of everything Zegna produces, including providing inspiration for the Zegna Outdoor Collection.
WOOL AND SILK DOWN-FILLED HOODED BLOUSON, $3150
Merging luxury and performance at the highest levels, the new Zegna Outdoor Collection is a stylish take on protection from the elements. The line has you covered from head to toe, and even includes a luxurious version of a La Sportiva TX Top mountain boot. The new collection offers expertly-tailored base layers to keep you warm, as well as a blouson down jacket made from water-resistant wool and silk. Speaking of fabric, Zegna utilizes a wool engineered to be warmer and more breathable named Techmerino across the apparel line, including pairing it with leather in a set of gloves for the slopes. For your head, a collaborative helmet with KASK offers both protection and stylish cues like a leather chinstrap.

In order to fully utilize the great outdoors, Zegna also partnered with several outdoor brands on hardgoods. The label co-released snowshoes and ergonomic, folding ski poles with TSL as part of the collection, as well as a performance-driven pair of skis with boutique ski maker Zai. For easy access to on-piste essentials like health, safety and payment apps, the house also released a smartwatch with Garmin. And for dining on the go, the line also includes a stylish, stainless steel water bottle and lunchbox produced by Sigg.

To tie everything together, Zegna included visual cues and specific branding throughout the collection: the ZEGNA 232 road Brand Mark is a double-wide stripe of vicuña brown that represents a 232km road that connects Oasi Zegna with local alpine communities. In a world where fashion houses release confounding information to try and explain inspiration for collections, it’s refreshing to hear that Zegna’s environmental focus has been the same for more than a century. Stylish survival in the elements is still the goal, and the label calls the Zegna Outdoor Collection “a complete solution for outdoor living.” You won’t find a better option to face mother nature.
