Style Recap: The Most Memorable Looks From The 2011 MTV VMAs

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, which aired last night, was the best one we've seen in the last few years. Not only didBeyonce announce her pregnancy, Jay-Z and Kanye made a "surprise" performance, Lady Gaga showed up as a man, Complex girlJessie J entertained us all night, and Tyler, The Creator won Best New Artist. Besides it being fun to watch while we were hiding from Hurricane Irene, we had a good time checking out what our favorite celebs wore. Some failed and looked like chinchillas in LA heat (ahem, Drake), some rocked fancy suits, and some kept it casual in their usual 'fits. Complex Says: WHAT THE HELL is up with Busta's SLEEVELESS suit jacket? Is Kazaam style hot in the streets? Look at him now. And laugh.

Complex Says: We respect the bawse but WTF is up with the sweater vest? And he wore it over a white tee and let the bottom scrunch up all awkwardly and shit. We're confused and disappointed.

Complex Says: Wiz was one of the few artists who decided not to dress up and rock his usual look instead. With Amber glued to his arm, he stayed casual and wore a graphic tank and Steelers cap. The non-indigo denim is a good look though.

Complex Says: The winner of Best New Artist was a walking meme with his new Supreme cap, Vans Authentics, and tie-dye shirt (with a cat face on it, duh).

Complex Says: Say all the lesbian jokes you want, but the Biebs was a true G at the VMAs. He rocked a YSL jacket complete with a pin, red pants, cheetah print sneakers, and had Selena Gomez on pimp lock all night. (Still not sure why he had a snake in his hand at all times, but we'll let the young kid live).

Complex Says: Lady Gaga's male alter ego wore Brooks Brothers and channeled a classic look.

Complex Says: The skinny chicken's grandpa steez was a good look.

Complex Says: The raw denim is a good look, but the combo of the red leather jacket, YSL belt, and Lanvin sneakers is a little too much for the short man.

Complex Says: The pro-snowboarder cleaned up his look with a slim black suit.

Complex Says: Not straying from his usual style, Big Sean rocked his Don C custom hat and massive amounts of gold jewelry.

Complex Says: Kanye pulled off the denim on denim look nicely. We're feeling the ombre chambray shirt. Plus, he rocked the Yeezy 2s! Jay-Z's look was clean and cool as usual, with his Don C Yankees hat and white tee.

Complex Says: The Miami swag had us wanting to hop on a yacht during Hurricane Irene. White jacket? Striped shirt? Red pants? Tassled slippers? The dancers? He's killing it.

Complex Says: We're glad Chris Brown didn't try any futuristic fashion trends last night. The white suit with gold accessories (the safety pin tie-clip is awesome), was a good look for the performance.

Complex Says: Ummmm....Jared Leto. HAHHAHAHA.

Complex Says: Even though Russell wears the tightest, shiniest shit that we would never ever wear, we don't judge. He wifed Katy Perry and is the funniest Brit of the decade.

Complex Says: We can't hate on Bruno for making the Doo-Wop look his thing. From his hair to his shoes, he's fully committed to the lifestyle.

Complex Says: We're big fans of Drake at Complex, but c'mon son—your cardigan is three sizes too big. Also, a sweater in August? In LA?!

Complex Says: Looks like Weezy is still heavy in his "rock" phase because this get-up is straight out of 2006's Fueled By Ramen craze. Looking like the black Axl Rose smh.

Complex Says: Yikes???
