Leicester-born designer Nicholas Daley has unveiled his Spring/Summer 2024 collection, in which the creative continues to explore the cultural impact of roots-reggae on Britain’s Afro-Caribbean community.

A mix of personal history and collective memory, this season Daley looks to shine a light on the rich cultural heritage of the Midlands’ Black music scene in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Placing Birmingham band Steel Pulse front and centre, the Reggae Klub collection uses the Handsworth Revolution album as a key reference, along with the work of legendary music photographer Adrian Boot.

Looking at the collection itself, the SS24 offering deepens the brand’s fabric programme while also introducing both new and old designs. Moreover, seasonal summer shades have been mixed with understated tones to create a bespoke Tartan print, eye-catching knitted polos and crochet vests. A collared cardigan and panelled cargo pant set make for standout pieces, nodding to the designer’s Dundee roots.

Elsewhere, animal print shirting is contrasted against a pair of water-repellent trousers, a zip-up bomber jacket, and an oversized raglan sleeve raincoat. For footwear, the designer has teamed up with Padmore & Barnes to reimagine the Willow shoe (a chunky moccasin with a unique rubber sole and contrast hand-applied stitching) in a combination of suede and nubuck.
