Fresh off the back of its recent New Balance collaboration, London-based label Aries has continued its flurry of collaborations by linking up with sportswear brand FILA.
For the collaboration, FILA and Aries have combined their distinctive DNAs to produce a capsule collection that explores FILA’s historic archive, as well as Aries’ design ethos.
Designed as both an homage to the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and a nod to FILA’s infamous sailing jacket, the collection features a slew of sailing-inspired sportswear, relaxed tailoring, nylon tracksuits, wind-cheater pants, and womenswear pieces readied in a striking black colour palette.
In typical Aries style, each piece is expertly refined and transfigured, most notably through graphics that pay tribute to the original Greek mythology as well as referencing sailing codes such as semaphore flags.
Additionally, the collection’s colour palette blends black with FILA’s graphic white and red rich tones of gold and cream, along with black and white tie-dye prints—reminiscent of Grecian marble—to create a smooth play-off of ancient and modern design codes.
