Michael Leavitt's Art Army project finds the Seattle-born sculptor creating one of a kind, fully articulated "action figures" in the likeness of well-known artists. He's made Julian Schnabel, Chuck Close, Tom Sachs, Takashi Murakami, and more. It's all a satirical look at consumer culture and precise link to the art and vinyl toy markets.
Highlights of Leavitt's work are now on display at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York City. The Art Army Royalty features all new material and serves as Leavitt's first solo exhibition at the gallery.
