Project Fadeaway: Fashion Industry Jobs for Unemployed NBA Players

We've got some suggestions for how these players can survive the lockout.

NBA Players

Kevin Durant

Odd Size Tailored Menswear

As one of the most exciting players in the NBA, a lot of his talent is attributable to his length. He has the absolute freakishly long arms and legs, so when it comes to dressing up nice, he doesn't get his shit tailored, he has to get it suuuuper-tailored. So why not start up a biz that caters to the Extra Small, Triple Long (pause) regular Joe out there?

Defunct Brands Re-Issued

Juwan Howard, the oldest player in the league, is no slump when it comes to being a fashion icon. He is a part of one of the most iconic fashion uprisings in basketball history with the Fab Five's notorious long shorts and black sock phenomenon. He needs to use this old-timey clout he has to re-issue some of our favorite defunct brands; FUBU, Pelle Pelle, Cross Colours. Doesn't matter because what he touches will be gold.

John Wall

Dance Wear

Dancing is tough. Creating a dancing phenomenon and building something off of it? That's even tougher, but we think "The John Wall Dance" still has some life left in it, and if he wants to take it to the next level, he needs to capitalize on it. What better time then the Lockout to create a Dancewear line for when people want to break out the flex at the club?

Andrea Bargnani

Italian Suiting

As the 1st overall draft pick in 2006, Bargnani hasn't quite lived up to the hype (it doesn't help that he plays for the Raptors who used to consider Chris Bosh a "superstar"), but with his Italian background, he definitely has something to fall back on with Italian suits. Cashmere can save his career, for sure.

Carmelo Anthony

Thug Chinos

We've also seen the emergence of style for the Baltimore-native (before or after Lala?), and he was even spotted at Tommy Hilfiger's fashion week show... with some red pants on. And he nailed it. We'd like to see him take this style cue to the masses, and produce some prep-style colored chinos for the sensitive thug in all of us.

Baron Davis

Baron Davis

Hipster Geek Clothing

Baron Davis' style evolution over the last few years has been quite apparent with much of the inspiration coming from the Bay Area. He's even making a movie encouraging dudes to start dressing better. With the rugged beard, thick-framed glasses, a keffiyeh scarf and purple flannel shirt, we know B.D. is a hipster, for real, for real. He should take the hipster geek chic look to the market. It would kill in Brooklyn.

Metta World Peace

Hair Supplies

OK, we get it. Meta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, wants to be the next Dennis Rodman, and he is doing a damn good job of it. The only thing left is for him to outdo Rodman and make a business move to take advantage of the wild dyed hair. He can start off with catapulting his own line of crazy-ass hair accessories. Who knows what that will lead to.

Greg Oden

Underwear Line

Dude is never going to have a full career in the NBA, so what is the next best thing he is known for? Having his dong all over the internet. A good way to capitalize on that is to create a line of undergarments for men who occasionally like to pop a peen out for a pic. Pause-worthy? Sure. Lucrative? Maybe.

Kris Humphries

Kris Humphries

Kardashian Line

Welp, who didn't see THAT one coming? Kris Humphries' sham of a marriage to Kim Kardashian proved two things: the whole thing was fake, and Kris Humphries and KK make one HELL of a business team. While splitting a cool $10 mil on that wedding, Humphries should think about using the Kardashian for another business venture he wants. T-shirts? Gold. Snapbacks? Winning. Toasters? Probably. He could even get some help from his former bro-in-law/most stylish douche.
