From the outside, the streetwear world probably looks like one huge boys club. Don't get it twisted though, there are some powerful, talented, and creative women behind some of your favorite brands.

Karen Civil

Affiliation: Brand Ambassador of Civil Clothing

The former A&R and publicist for some of the biggest acts in music knows a thing or two about building an image, so it's only right that she started her own clothing brand for men and women alike. The tees are selling out and Beyonce even rocked a Civil Clothing snapback.

Sammy Jo Alonso and Valerie Julian

Affiliation: Co-Owners of Fruition Las Vegas

Trendsetting and influencing people all over the globe, Sammy-Jo Alonso and Valerie Julian are two of the three masterminds behind Las Vegas shopping destination, Fruition Las Vegas. The two ladies hand pick their highly edited selection of vintage, archive, and current collection merchandise which is a combination only they could create. Recently, they launched a Fruition Las Vegas location in Los Angeles, which houses even more exclusive product to fill out closets.

Linda Nguyen

Affiliation: Founder and Creative Director of LOVE + MADE

Not everybody gets the chance to collaborate with Stussy, but Linda Nguyen knows what that feels like. Her successful women's brand recently dropped a jewelry collab with Miss Wax, created a shoe collection with Royal Elastics, and made a really cool line of candles. If you want to know what to buy your girl, LOVE + MADE's goods is the way to go.

Angie Dita

Affiliation: Designer at Vans

Like a few of the ladies on this list, Angie got her start at Hellz Bellz. It was there that she fine tuned her design skills and brought them over to Vans where she now designs footwear. Just another reason to wear Vans—it's one step closer to having something in common with her.

Jayne Min

Affiliation: Designer at The Hundreds

The Hundreds is one of our favorite streetwear brands, and knowing that Jayne Min is behind the designs makes total sense. She's one of the most stylish women we know and runs her own blog you need to add to your reader: Stop It Right Now. She's got beauty, brains, and the Balenciaga to match.

Sophia Chang

Affiliation: Designer and Illustrator for Staple, Nike, and Undefeated

Sophia's dope illustrations have gotten her noticed by big names in streetwear like Undefeated, Staple, and even sportswear giant Nike. But her skills don't stop at designing and drawing for these labels. She also consults for brands and links them up with other collaborators, all resulting in better pieces for you to wear.

Joy Claire

Affiliation: Marketing Manager for ONE Distribution

Joy Claire's experience includes working with a mega-brand like Nike, and one of the best known streetwear brands like HUF. If you had a resume like that, then you'd know a thing or two about the industry just like her. She now reigns over marketing for One Distribution which is home to Supra and Kr3w, and it's the reason why those brands are everywhere right now.

Brittany Wood

Affiliation: Blogger for @VansGirls and Co-Editor of Miss KL's blog.

With fine-tuned writing skills, Brittany blogged at men's brand GPPR and women's brand Hellz Bellz before going to Vans Girls' social media team. She's also one of the editors of Miss KL's blog, Karmaloop's women's counterpart. You can bet she knows a thing or two about the streetwear game.

Affiliation: The General's Assistant and PR at Crooks & Castles

Keeping a brand on the backs of the right celebrities, or getting a line featured in the right press outlets is no easy feat, especially for a brand as popular as Crooks. But Skye sure does make it look effortless. The Aussie transplant fits right in with the fam over at Crooks and has been killing it on the low ever since.

Kei Henderson

Kei is involved in everything cool. She used to run social marketing at Complex, she throws shows and parties with up and coming rappers, and now she's behind all of 10.Deep's special projects. Affiliation: Founder of Hellz Bellz

It's hard to have a conversation about women's streetwear brands and not mention Lanie's name. She's the H.B.I.C. of Hellz Bellz which murders the women's streetwear competition, and she's even released some beenies that guys can rock that read "Junya Mafia."

Erin Magee

Affiliation: Founder and Designer of Made Me

The embodiment of a bashful badass, Erin designs the entire Made Me collection after things she would want herself, and luckily she's got the sickest sense of style so her loyal fans can stay just as fresh as her. Having designed for Supreme and Kim Jones for Umbro, Magee surely has the talent to to create amazing collections, and she's even letting the fellas in on the action with her recently dropped "Slutz" tee exclusively at VFiles.
