It's hard enough graduating college and going out into the work world and actually finding meaningful employment, but there's something else you need to worry about now: There's a high probability you might suck at your job, and it will have nothing to do with your actual performance. It will be because you're ugly. Or, so a report published by Michigan State University claims.
"In addition to personality, we examined physical attractiveness, positing that attractive employees would be less likely to elicit negative emotion in their coworkers and receive counterproductive workplace behavior than unattractive employees," the report claims.
That's a tough pill to swallow, especially if you're putting in work, and it's not just the ugly employees who are putting off bad vibes; it's counter-balanced by attractive associates getting praise. "The physically attractive employee is likely to receive more favorable treatment from his or her coworkers," the report said.
Well, if you're ugly, there's always the opportunity to become stylish to negate the tough hand that nature dealt you. Then again, just being bad at your job is probably better than being too attractive and getting deported, right?
So if you weren't blessed with the best of looks, it just means you're going to have to work harder. Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates sure aren't stylish or great-looking dudes, but they're the ones with the bread. Just keep plugging away.
