At last, the first month of 2023 has come to an end. And if your New Year’s resolution has anything to do with saving money, just know that concept is nonexistent for many of our favorite celebrities. Just look at Drake, who spent nearly $3 million to wear the exact same jewelry as Pharrell. Trust us, if you think you have a spending problem, it probably isn’t that serious.

Iced-out chains, vintage jewels worn by the royal family, and even iPhones embedded into medallions. While the most ice we’ll probably ever touch is sitting in our freezer, we can thank these celebs for showing us the finer things in life. Here are January’s best celebrity jewelry purchases.

Jeweler: Jacob & Co.

Easily the biggest jewelry purchase this month was Drake buying a handful of pieces from Pharrell’s own personal collection of jewelry. As seen in the “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” music video he released earlier this month, Drizzy dropped nearly $3 million to acquire six of Pharrell’s most iconic wares sold at his Joopiter “Son of a Pharaoh” auction in November. This included a N.E.R.D. pendant chain, a N.E.R.D. Brain pendant in yellow gold, an iced-out BBC Astronaut Head pendant chain, a bedazzled pair of Oakley Razor Blade shades, a skateboard pendant chain, and a Sony PSP encased in 14-karat gold. While it may seem like Drake was just cosplaying as one of his favorite rappers, who wouldn’t want to own that many Pharrell pieces if they had the money?

Jeweler: Eliantte

Lil Meech, the son of Black Mafia Family founder Big Meech, plays his father on 50 Cent’s popular Starz series BMF. He is already a natural fit for his role, but he stepped it up a notch by recently purchasing his own BMF chain. The piece was designed by Elliott Eliantte and allegedly cost $500,000. The pendant rests on a Cuban link chain that weighs 1,100 grams and costs $200,000 alone. The BMF logo pendant cost Lil Meech $300,000 and is covered with diamonds—no hints of silver or gold in sight. He’s certainly living up to his father’s name.

Jeweler: Garrard

Like Drake, Kim Kardashian has also spent major dollars at auction to attain highly coveted jewelry that doubles as memorabilia. Recently, Kardashian spent $197,453 on a piece known as the Attallah Cross. The piece was originally produced by the royal family’s jeweler Garrard in the early 20th century. It’s a fleurée cross set with square-cut amethyst and accented by circular-cut diamonds. It was famously worn by Princess Diana for a number of public appearances and has never been worn in public since her passing. Although the auction was estimated to fetch £80,000 to £120,000, it’s no surprise that the auction sold much higher than those estimates considering the reverence many have for the late Princess Diana.

Jeweler: Icebox

Polo G recently copped himself a new diamond chain that’s certainly out of the ordinary. His latest piece resembles a pitbull holding up an actual iPhone. According to Icebox, the piece took several months to make and boasts 500 grams of 14-karat white gold, and over 90 carats of diamonds, on just the pendant alone. The links of the chain are made to look like the letter B to serve as a tribute to Polo G’s childhood friend BMoney 1300, who was fatally shot in August 2021.

Jeweler: Alex Moss

Recently, Ken Carson appeared on Icebox’s YouTube channel alongside his Opium labelmate Destroy Lonely to pick up jewelry. In the video, one of the Icebox employees asks what type of piece Carson is interested in making and he points to the barbed wire–esque tattoos on his forearm. Turns out, Carson dubbed Icebox to get Alex Moss to make this piece instead. Aptly dubbed the “Xternal Link,” Carson’s latest piece is flooded in diamonds and looks sharp enough to thwart any would-be chain snatchers.
