Things are changing in the Alexander Wang universe. The former Balenciaga designer recently announced that, in addition to creative director, he will also be taking on a role as chairman and CEO of Alexander Wang Inc., and he's already made a big move. Wang will reportedly collaborate with Adidas on a new line, according to WWD.
Wang has diffused his downtown, street vibes to the masses before by collaborating with fast-fashion retailer H&M and creating his own T line. For Adidas, it's another team member to add to its already stacked roster. The Three Stripes has the equivalent of the 2016 Golden State Warriors on its staff with a glut of designers, celebrities, and larger-than-life personalities, including Kanye West, Nigo, Pharrell, Rick Owens, and Raf Simons.
Nike has been beefing up on its side as well. In 2016, the Swoosh has released collabs with Riccardo Tisci, Louis Vuitton men's designer Kim Jones, and Balmain's Olivier Rousteing.
Rumors suggest the Adidas x Alexander Wang line will debut after the designer's NYFW show on September 10. Adidas did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
