Ah, another year down, 85 more to go until civilization is completely ruined thanks to the effects of global warming. Twitter is still alive and kicking, and this year, ten Twitter accounts stood out in my mind as being worthy of a follow. Whether they had an entire year of worthwhile content, or had a moment or two of tear-jerking tweets, these are ten accounts that stood out above the rest. And, since odds are I have way more followers than you, please take me very seriously.

dril
Dril is the undeniably funniest user on Twitter. Everyone says comedy is subjective, but this is not debatable. Literally everything Dril tweets is insane masterful hilarity, and many of his tweets deserve to be displayed in at least the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, or some sort of museum that hangs up tweets. Dril is impossible to predict because there are no obvious trends to his jokes other than intentional below-average spelling and grammar. This year included gems like "if your grave doesnt say 'rest in peace' on it you are automatically drafted into the skeleton war." Visit its' (no one knows the identity of Dril, thus the hesitation on his/her) favstar for past brilliance.

If you don’t have the money or time to pay for a college course on social justice, following Ayesha A. Siddiqi will do you the same good. She regularly tweets (and writes longer pieces like her essay "Waifs and Wifeys" right here on Four Pins) about feminism, American foreign policy and, most famously, Kanye West. The last is what she received the most online press for, after she defended Kanye West's tweets to Jimmy Kimmel. Over the course of a 24-hour period, Ayesha talked about how Kanye is marginalized and the absurdity of people being upset with him for talking about himself in grandiose ways. She recently got hired at Buzzfeed for some still unknown position, but there's no doubt she will most definitely elevate herself above the standard Koch Brothers-approved brand of political content Buzzfeed has become infamous for.

This year, Jaden Smith regularly tweeted bits of philosophy like:
"How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real"
"If Everybody In The World Dropped Out Of School We Would Have A Much More Intelligent Society"
"'It's Your Birthday' Mateo Said. I Didn't Respond. 'Are You Not Excited To Be 15' He Asked. Reading My Book I Uttered 'I Turned 15 Long Ago'"
He was regularly made fun of for his tweets, which makes sense because they sound like a college freshman’s half-baked attempts at sounding intellectual. But maybe that makes it impressive because he's 15 and not 18? Better to get it out of his system now, on a social media platform where over 4 million people follow him.

Coffee Dad tweets about two things: coffee and his dead son. He tweets about coffee once or twice a day everyday for a few months, then tweets once about missing his son, then goes right back to coffee. It is a master’s class in patience on a website that seems to encourage the opposite.

I was told by my editor to add a menswear account to this list, this being a menswear website and whatnot. I guess, follow GQ's account? I follow them and have a subscription to the magazine, but I’ll probably stop doing both soon because I just don’t listen to them. For example, I’m wearing orange mesh shorts and a green crewneck sweater. I should be murdered by anyone with eyes. They link to good interviews sometimes? Look, I’m wearing orange shorts.

Fielder has one of the funniest shows on TV right now, Nathan For You, and had an amazing 2013 on Twitter conducting social media experiments. He would ask his followers to text their parents about dollar store condoms, or to text the person they are dating" 'I haven’t been fully honest with you' and then wait for an hour to reply. Then his followers would post a picture of their text conversation. Take a moment and scroll through Fielder’s account and see all the responses. It’s great, and what’s even better is that this article will still be here when you get back.

Over July 27-29, NPR’s Weekend Edition Saturday host Scott Simon tweeted about his mother’s final moments, and what resulted was one of the most beautiful series of tweets in the history of a generally stupid website. Comedian and writer Joe Mande regularly destroys on Twitter and this year was no exception. Followers got to see his regular takedowns of politicians and celebrities through the power of the ironic retweet, and fans of his annual September 11th retweeting of lame brands expressing their 'sympathy' got exactly what they wanted. He traded barbs with professional shitbag Michelle Malkin on the regular and everyone was happy, except for professional shitbag Michelle Malkin and fans of professional shitbag Michelle Malkin.

In the past week, followers of Boston Globe reporter Billy Baker got to read about how two boys, living under challenging circumstances, that Baker was mentoring (or fathering, depending on your definition) for the past few years got accepted into colleges, the youngest headed to Yale.
