Last night, photographer 13th Witness, a.k.a. Timothy McGurr, opened his show of recent work at Reed Space. The NYC-based artist has been taking photos for a bit now, and has developed a unique style of high contrast, color-rich images. The Reed Space exhibition is the first time a lot of Tim's work has been on display, so we suggest you go and check it out. We caught up with Tim to take us through some of his favorite photos, including a few of the pieces that are currently on display at Reed Space. If you're in NYC, stop over at 151 Orchard St., between Rivington and Stanton. 13th Witness' photos will be on display until September 30.
Let Me Ride
Flavor of the Month
"This is midtown, shot from Long Island City. The place where I took this from is one of the spots where I used to go a lot when I was younger, to get high over there. It has a great view of the city. I took this photo late at night after driving home from a Timberland photoshoot in Maine. I was driving back and I saw that the sky looked really nice. I was like, I have all this equipment, I might as well stop for a minute and take a few photos, so I stopped over there."

We Got the Funk
"This is in Washington Square Park, middle of the summer, straight New York vibes. I just happened to be in the park with one of my boys. I was hesitant at first to be shooting like this, but I had business cards on me so if anyone tried to say anything, I could show them I was a photographer, rather than some creep shooting photos. But these girls didn
Time for Some Aksion
"This was shot in Cape Cod. I shoot images for Timberland's Abington collection, and have done so for a few seasons now. They use this stuff for the lookboks, things like that, and this was taken on one of those shoots. Shooting with those guys allows me to go and shoot in areas where I might otherwise never go, so I get to see new things. The original of this photo looks nothing like this, especially the sky. A lot of these images I just kind of take and freak them to make them look a bit spikier than they would, to make it more artistic than they would otherwise appear."

Life's Blurry Sometimes
"This is another photograph that is in the Reed Space show. This is my dad [Futura] in Venezuela, Caracas. They have great colors on their trains, as you can see. Yeah, just one of those travel photos of me and my pops. It's just a long enough of a shutter so you get that train movement, but he was standing still, probably a good half-second exposure."
Road Trippin'
"This photo will appear in the show, and this was a photo I took on that same road trip I mentioned earlier. That first one, I believe, was shot in Utah, and this one was in Wyoming. Basically, yeah, driving through every state. Each state has its own vibe, its own colors. This is one of those good dramatic shots, good colors."
Ain't No Half Steppin
"I have a friend who knows Steve and he introduced me to him one night. We kind of talked about what I do and I helped him out with this soccer project he was doing in the city, the 'Showdown in Chinatown' event he did in the park. This was the following year, we decided to do a follow-up video. Usually I don
