Wearing a jersey of your favorite sports player or team to show support is acceptable because the players themselves wear them. To rock a shirt with your favorite artist's name and birth year is unforgivable. In 2012, LPD NYC launched a line of tees dedicated to fashion designers like Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, and Martin Margiela. The designs were a success and one of the shirts even made it to Riccardo Tisci's Instagram page.

Claiming victory, the brand has now moved on to what they are calling "The Artist Series," jersey-inspired shirts for Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and Jackson Pollock. While the fashion designer tees made some sense, these do not. Wouldn't that $80 be better spent on a monograph or print of the artist's work? Wearing one of these overpriced cotton tees only shows how much you don't know about the artists or their work. We hope it shrinks in the first wash.
