In 2002, Takashi Murakami founded the GEISAI art fair to help young artists showcase their work in a convention-style setting. After 14 years and 20 installments of the fair, Murakami and GEISAI have announced a new project for 2015 that will be take place at Kaikai Kiki’s Zingaro galleries in Nakano Broadway in Tokyo.
According to a press release from Kaikai Kiki, the galleries in Nakano Broadway welcome graffiti artists, street artists, and other "cross-genre creators" to exhibit their work. The exhibitions of the "GEISAI∞Infinity" Project, co-curated by Murakami and Takumi “Kasenyan” Kaseno of the GEISAI executive committee, will focus on the "creative release artists experience when they abandon the contextual emphasis of contemporary art." JNTHED, an artist who combines architectural paintings with robotics and two-dimensional cartoon characters, kicked off the series on Feb. 6 with the opening of his solo show "On Anti Anti-Aging."
