Effortless styling meets meticulous mechanical detailing for 51PERECENT's Fall/Winter 2019 'The Spiral Society' collection.

Attention to detail is a core element of the fashion industries top tier brands, with technical detailing and utilitarian inspired design offering an aesthetic as refined as the inner workings of societies mechanical marvels. This intense focus is especially apparent at 51PERECENT; the brainchild of Lee Won-Jae, who majored in mechanical engineering. Birthed at the crossroads of engineering and costume design. the brand has a structural approach to apparel and accessory design, offering an introspective exploration of daily life, architecture, human nature, and the spirit of design.

For Fall/Winter 2019, 51PERCENT delivers The Spiral Society, a collection built on hardware and technical detailing that is both unique and intricate. This design base is especially apparent through the use of door lock mechanisms and clasps, utilised as fixtures on crossbody bags, necklaces, and hoodies. Hardware placement has been carefully considered, with a mathematical focus on the shape and spacing of structures across each piece, evident within the placement of zips and pockets. Outerwear also performs especially well, ranging from utility-inspired wool Harrington jacket to a refined take on the classic Puffa jacket, and multi-zip functional Bomber.
