In the second episode of Get It Together, Complex’s new style-focused video series hosted by Aleali May, we flew to Los Angeles to meet up with one of Fairfax's finest. May explores the city with Melody Ehsani, the LA designer whose work has been cosigned by everyone from Erykah Badu to Frank Ocean
May visits Ehsani's shop in Fairfax and the Slauson Swap Meet to talk about her empowering jewelry, how Ehsani resisted her traditional Persian upbringing, shopping at the Slauson Swap Meet and what it means to be a woman in a streetwear indusry dominated by men.
"I really think it's like the new wave of feminism. It's 2019 and we've never experienced equality," Ehsani says. "Fashion always reflects what's happening in the world and I think it's really incredible because it's sort of like this liberation movement, this freedom to just be who I am. If you think about it, there are still no women's brands that are really representing it."
Make sure to check out the full interview in the video above, and keep an eye out for new episodes of 'Get It Together' dropping at 10 a.m. every Wednesday. Don't forget to also catch May in Styled for the Streets.
