Having a few of your favorite pairs of jeans on standby is a necessity, but it won’t hurt to step outside your comfort zone, either. When shopping for a new pair, try out something you’re not used to; a new wash, color, or fit can do wonders to refresh your wardrobe. For instance, if you’re used to wearing the same indigo shade, consider a black or stonewashed pair. You’ll be surprised at the possibilities that such a small change can bring to your overall rotation.

On the other hand, it’s important to aim for a certain of level of synergy in your closet. You want pieces that will compliment each other, combining styles and colors that are compatible and easily worn together. Ask yourself if the pair you’re trying on is going to work with the clothing you already have. If you’re unsure, it’s probably not a good investment.
