Mr Porter, along with sister site Net-A-Porter, are adding a new label to their roster: Tom Ford. But this isn't just another brand to add to the digital racks of the online luxury retailer, the deal makes the e-commerce platforms the first-ever online distributors of Tom Ford's Ready-to-Wear collections.
While the former Gucci-designer sells his eponymous label within brick-and-mortar luxury stores, along with his own boutiques, no one has sold his RTW collections online—until now. Yes, you could always buy a selection of accessories, bags, sunglasses, jeans, and some staple shirting online, especially through the brand's own webshop. But with this exclusive partnership, the Net-A-Porter Group will be providing everything from Tom Ford fragrances, to formalwear through its team of luxury retailers.
"I couldn't be happier to sell the Tom Ford womenswear, menswear, accessories, Tom Ford beauty and Tom Ford eyewear collections on Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter," said the designer on the new deal. "I have the utmost respect for...both Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter and am happy that they will be the first on-line retailers to sell Tom Ford ready-to-wear.”
The only downside? While the ladies can shop Tom Ford on Net-A-Porter starting in July, the guys will have to wait for the brand's fall/winter '15 collection to arrive on Mr Porter in September.
Considering that the site has been name-dropped by A$AP Rocky, and even gives advice on how to "properly" take off the clothes you've copped, we think that Mr Porter may be the perfect retailer for Mr. Ford.
