These surreal landscapes are the IRL work of the California-based artist Lita Albuquerque. It’s the largest—and also the first—art installation on Antarctica, created from 99 massive blue orbs that are aligned to stars in the sky above. The photos above, and many more, are part of an exhibition called “Vanishing Ice,” at the Whatcom Museum in Washington state. The central focus of the show is polar landscapes in art between 1775 and today. Check it out before it, well, vanishes.
