What started as a case that "didn't exist," has turned into prison time for the design duo behindDolce & Gabbana. An Italian court has sentenced designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to 20 months each in jail for a tax evasion on more than $1 billion in earnings.

The case, which seems like a lot of legal litigation, became interesting because of the designers' nonchalant attitude towards it. When they were first summoned to court of the case's hearings, they didn't show. Their reason? They simply felt there was no case against them. That's the sort of attitude you might expect from Italian high fashion designers, but we're guessing it didn't help them gain any leniency with the judge—or maybe it did.

The duo could have been sentenced to three years in the clink, but the judge let them off a little light. Just one tidbit of advice to the designers: don't wear any cool footwear when you're booked into jail; you will get run for them. Especially if they're extra "sprezzy."
