Photographer Shawn Clover was fascinated with photographs of San Francisco from 1906, showing the devastation of the giant earthquake that hit the city. He decided to blend the old images with the new for this series titled "Then and Now," reminding us of the chaos and architecture at the time. In his words:
“Everything needs to be precise when layering two photos on top of each other. My original idea was to tear away a piece of the modern photo to expose the 1906 photo, but after playing around a bit, everything seemed more interesting when the two were softly blended together.”
